Fun Home

If you don't know about Alison Bechdel's book, you should really check it out. It's one of the best graphic novels ever. Maybe you won't get as much of a kick out of this picture of the Ortiz Funeral Home I took in Brooklyn:

Were the lights on the facade really out like that or did you alter the image at all? I love Fun Home. The dad in Fun Home has a lot of eerie similarities to my dad, to the point that if I found out he was also having sex with teenage boys it would not surprise me.

Yep, it was really like that! I wish I had a digital camera rather than a camera-phone because I think it would be more clear. It does look super-digital and you can't really read it.

Wow, Liz! It's amazing how universal her story was while being so specific. I feel like there's so much backlash toward that book being successful. It's really sad because it's really incredible and I haven't felt as emotionally tied to a comic since Chris Ware's Jimmy Corrigan, which also gets a huge amount of backlash.
